Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 - Welcome to Cambodia!
Upon arrival at Siem Reap’s international airport you will be escorted to your luxury hotel in the center of town by private vehicle. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure, exploring this busy town and sample some of the excellent local cuisine in one of the many restaurants.
Day 2 - Sightseeing in Angkor
Angkor Wat is the crown jewel of ancient Khmer architecture, and is the highlight of any visit to Cambodia. After a guided tour of the main temple, you will continue to the temple of Angkor Thom. This fortified city covers an area of 4 square miles and is surrounded by a moat. You enter the city via the monumental South Gate, after crossing a causeway lined with statues of demons and gods.
Continue to the TerraceOf The Elephants and the Terrace Of The Leper Kings, both of which are former spaces for public ceremonies and are adorned with dramatic carvings.
Watch the sunset over the countryside from a high terrace of an ancient temple, before returning to your hotel. Tonight, explore the town at your leisure, sampling some local cuisine.
Day 3 - Temples of Angkor
Today you will continueyour sightseeing of the temples of Angkor. You’ll visit the temple of Banteay Srei, with its intricate, classical Khmer carvings, before continuing to BanteaySamre, dedicated to the god Vishnu and dating from the 12th century. After visiting the ruined Royal Enclosure and temple of TaProhm, made famous in the movie Tomb Raider, you will continue to the mysterious Bayon Temple, one of the most impressive in Angkor. Enjoy a final evening here at your leisure in the bustling center of Siem Reap. There’s a huge selection of food and entertainment here to choose from.
Day 4 - Bangkok
This morning after a leisurely breakfast you will be escorted to Siem Reap’s airport by private vehicle for your short flight to Bangkok.
Upon arrival you will be welcomed by your guide and escorted to your hotel. Bangkok is one of Asia’s most diverse and exciting cities. At first glance this city of over 10 million people seems overwhelming, but it’ll soon start to make sense. There’s so much to see and do here that you could spend your entire vacation in and around the city. Enjoy your first evening sampling some of the incredible street food that the city is known for.
Day 5 - Bangkok
This morning you will start a full day tour of Bangkok. You will start at the Reclining Buddha at Wat Po - a 150-foot long enormous Buddha covered in gold leaf. Next, you’ll visit the expansive Grand Palace, the city’s most celebrated landmark, built in 1792 by King Rama I and the center of power for over 150 years. Within the compound is the Emerald Buddha in the temple of Wat PraKaew. After lunch, which you’ll enjoy in a riverside restaurant, you’ll travel along the Chao Phraya River through the canals of Thonburi where you’ll observe Thai life in the neighborhoods on the water. Your tour will conclude with a visit to the Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn), a 240-foot high pagoda overlooking the river and sprawling city.
Day 6 - Chiang Mai
This morning you will fly to Thailand’s second city of Chiang Mai in the north of the country. Despite its ever increasing urbanization, this 700-year-old city remains a pleasant, relaxed and cool base from which to explore the region. The area around Chiang Mai is known for its hill tribes and spectacular natural beauty, while in the city itself remnants of the walls and moat of the original historic settlement, along with dozens of temples enhance the city’s charm.
Day 7 - Chiang Mai
Today you will get out of town to explore the rural areas surrounding the city by elephant. At an elephant rehabilitation center, you will have the unforgettable opportunity to journey through the forest on the back of one of these gentle animals as you get up close to the jungle. Then, you will travel by ox-cart - a traditional and still popular means of transportation to rural villages where you will gain an insight into the lives of the people here. You’ll return by bamboo raft along the beautiful Mae Taeng River before driving back to Chiang Mai.
Day 8 - Chiang Mai - Chiang Rai
This morning you will depart Chiang Mai by private vehicle for the approximate 3-hour drive to the city of Chiang Rai. The drive is a scenic one, offering an insight into rural northern Thailand. On the way you’ll visit Wat Rong Khun (the White Temple), uniquely constructed in radiant white plaster, embedded with sparkling reflections from mirrored glass. You’ll then board a boat for a one-hour cruise upriver to visit a local Karen hill tribe.
Day 9 - Chiang Rai - Phuket
After checking out of your hotel you’ll visit the border area of Mae Sai, where Thailand and Myanmar meet. You’ll then continue to the Golden Triangle area where Thailand, Myanmar and Laos meet before visiting Chiangsaen, an ancient city on the banks of the Mae Khong River. This afternoon you will be escorted to the airport for your flight to the tropical island of Phuket in the south of the country. An island of undeniable beauty, Phuket boasts palm fringed beaches, picturesque villages and forested hills at every turn.
Day 10 - Phi Phi Island Tour
Today you’ll see some of the most tropical islands in southeast Asia. First you’ll travel to Phi Phi island, which is famous for its bird’s nests, as well as for being the filming location for the Leonardo DiCaprio movie, ‘The Beach’. You’ll have plenty of opportunity to swim and snorkel here in the clear, turquoise water, as well as feeding the local inhabitants at Monkey Beach, before enjoying lunch served at the Phi Phi Natural Resort. This afternoon, swim at Bamboo Island, with its white sand and extremely clear water. Spend some time swimming or relaxing on the beautiful beach before returning to your hotel by speedboat.
